Aurora Sky Photo Shoot - Sneak Peek

The wait is nearly over!

The pictures are in from the Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter photo shoot and they are killer! I can't stop staring at them, and why should I be the only one?

Thank you to photographer Teresa Yeh for putting together the casting call, wardrobe, makeup, hair, and shoot! And to Gabriella (aka: Aurora Sky) and Alyssa Dearest (aka: Valerie Ward) for bringing the characters to life.

Claudia at Phatpuppy Art has already created the mockup for book one and it is so unbelievably cool. I'm buzzing with excitement! If you haven't signed up for the cover reveal already, see the bottom of this post for more info.

Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter (Aurora Sky Book One)
With Gabriella

When you read or write, a certain image of a character appears in your mind as you go along with them on their journey.

One of the things that made me most anxious about the casting call was finding an Aurora who not only fit her physical appearance, but conveyed her dark, rebellious, sometimes na├»ve and numb, yet brave personality.

I don't think there's a woman who could have pulled Aurora off better than Gabriella and I'm so grateful to Teresa for finding her.

Northern Bites (Aurora Sky Book Two)
With Gabriella and Alyssa Dearest

It's almost scary how well Alyssa and Gabriella pull of Valerie and Aurora. The expressions and attitude are dead on. It's like they've stepped out of the pages to go after unruly blood suckers.

Bad Blood (Aurora Sky Book Three)
With Gabriella

I just saw these gorgeous pics last night. All I'm saying for now is it involves a red dress and that the finished cover will be ready at the end of October. And by then I'll have a better ETA for those of you waiting so patiently for the third book. Right now it's looking like Aurora will have a five book run with at least one novella and short story in the mix. ;)

Win a Stay Strong / Aurora Sky Goodie Bag

I was instantly touched by the story of Amanda Todd, a beautiful teenage girl who was bullied mercilessly. She bravely tells her story in this YouTube video published last September. Amanda committed suicide almost a year ago leaving behind a message of heartbreak and hope for a world free of harassment.

I bought several of the Amanda Todd Stay Strong snowflake wristbands (benefiting the foundation) that I've put into goodie packs. I'll be giving away a total of 3, but not all at once so check back in the weeks leading up to the event. :)

In the goodie pack:
Amanda Todd Stay Strong lime green wristband
Striped Alaska socks
Northern Lights Alaska bookmark
Aurora Sky "Do Not Disturb" door hanger
Polar Bear Smooch chocolate covered peppermint

a Rafflecopter giveaway

See You in Canada?

Spellbound fans! If you make it to the Vancouver event I got some white roses from Michael's for picture posing. So get on up to Canada...or adventurous folks from my home state of Alaska get on DOWN to Canada. ;)

Hope to see you there!

Where Did Summer Go?

Summer 2013 was a particular time warp. Here's how I spent mine:

Riding

Seb taught me to ride his old Suzuki DR-Z400SM. Oh the exhilaration! It reminds me of the lift in spirit I used to experience horseback riding. Now I'm ready to take the skills test for my license.

Reading

This summer Karina Halle released Come Alive, the latest in my favorite Experiment in Terror series, and Shooting Scars, book two in the fabulous Artist's Trilogy so I've been a happy camper - with marshmallows on top!

Another title that knocked me off my feet was Heritage, book three in S.M. Boyce's Grimoire Saga. I love a series that gets better with each book and Boyce blew me utterly away with this book. Note: You'll have to wait on this one. It's due out around November. It doesn't happen often, but I do once in awhile manage to nab an ARC. :D

Working

This is my third season working for Pelindaba Lavender. I work from end of Aprilish until Christmas (and cram in a load of writing during the months of January - April).

Watching Way Too Much Netflix

I'm a total binger. My favorite series this summer was the Netflix original: Orange is the New Black. Currently I'm watching White Collar. I love the characters and humor. Prison and con artists are in my friends! ...and I happen to love the color orange - don't let all the purple fool ya. ;)

Hiking

Seb, Cosmo, and I get out for a hike just about every afternoon to enjoy the beauty of the island, keep in shape, and speak our minds.

I hope you all had a lovely summer!
