Spooktacular! Spooktacular!

I love this time of year. For me it's not the costumes, but the candy and decorations that get me all wired and high on the holiday spirit. I am a sugar addict. I had planned to include treats with the giveaway, but I ate them ALL at the beginning of the month.

So, onto the inedible, though equally delicious offerings. They are:

$15 certificate at Xpresso Design
Stand Out! $15 Xpresso Design Gift Card.
Everyone knows how important it is to make a good first impression. That's why I'm giving away a $15 gift card at Xpresso Design. Treat yourself to a custom button with grab code or personalized signature banner. (See mine below? I love it! I have it set up to appear under all my emails). Or put it towards a blog makeover or Facebook cover page. (International)

And since I write about witches and vampires, the winner gets their pick of any title in my Spellbound series or Aurora Sky. (Trailers below.)

Cover Reveal Cluster

Awhile back, S.M. Boyce, snark and author of The Grimoire Trilogy, recruited me to her indie author group, which includes LOTS of emails. (Said with love. Keep 'em coming, gang.) It's cool in that I'm privy to sneak peeks on covers and such - sometimes I even get a chance to throw my two cents into the mix.

Since I'm lagging behind on cover reveals, I decided to do them in a cluster of three. (I'm slightly obsessed with this number.) Right then; less talk, more pictures. (That's my motto.) Look at the pretties!

Releasing December 2012:

I LOVE this cover! Then again, I love blond chicks in school uniforms. I must have been a dude in a former life. (Oh yeah, and a dagger in hand - even better! I love ladies who kick ass.)

Releasing November 6, 2012:

Out of this world, am I right? I was especially excited when author David James mentioned that my "neighbor" Keary Taylor (on Orcas Island) designed this. This is so damn cool my mouth is agape. I love the extra glow on the second "O" in MOON.

Releasing December 1, 2012:

I'll tell you what grabbed me most about this one. The title (intriguing and I'm a total fonts girl) and the two words: Van Helsing. He has sons? *swoons* Bring on the boys!

Killer Northern Lights Over Anchorage

My Facebook friends from back home are abuzz about the phenomenal auroras that lit up the skies yesterday night.

Northern Lights over Anchorage. Taken by Marc Lester. Anchorage Daily News.
There is something otherworldly about the dance of colors across the night sky on a cold night. Alaska is a truly amazing place and I'm tickled pink, green, and purple to set my new young adult series, AURORA SKY, in the Far North. As I say in the book: Vampires are flocking to Alaska.

The cold. The dark.

"It's like Florida for seniors."

Once I get the manuscript back from my final copy editor, I'll send along eARCs to those who requested them.

Official release date is looking like November 20, 2012.

My First Book Signing

The best part about being a writer... meeting other writers!

Indie authors Jenni Merritt, Keary Taylor, Nikki Jefford, and Rachael Wade
On Wednesday, October 3rd, I had the great pleasure of participating in a YA reading/signing - Indies in the Sound - in Eastsound at Darvill's bookstore on Orcas Island. (See the lovely poster Keary designed on the window? Click here to see it in its full glory.)

At the end of the reading we all did a book swap. Yay, I got me a signed stack of goodies!
Keary Taylor is an Orcas resident (originally from Utah). I live on neighboring San Juan Island (and lived on Orcas 10 months prior to that - aw, miss Orcas!). Jenni Merritt, who I met for the first time yesterday, was actually born and raised on San Juan Island (and is trying to get back), but now lives in Oregon.

Rachael Wade came all the way from Florida and is looking to relocate on Orcas or somewhere near-a-bouts. We met online a few months ago and it was a treat hanging out face-to-face. Our hubbies even got a chance to bond. I kidnapped Rachael and Dave and took them on a 4-mile trek around Mountain Lake right before set-up time. Heh, heh. I had to do a quick "costume change" in a public bathroom.

Indie Love. You ladies are the jam in my jellyroll!
BLOOPERS: I have a frustrating tendency to make really bizarre facial expressions. While the other authors were doing their readings my husband told me I switched from angry face to annoyed face. I, of course, refused to believe I had anything other than a fabulous smile on my face during the entire event. Seb did manage to capture some bizarre looks, which I've shared on my Facebook author page.

Fangs, Fur, & Fey Giveaway Hop (INT)

Fangs and fur anyway. I'm not much of a fey person.

I'm excited to offer one winner an eARC of my up and coming YA paranormal action romance Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter and, since it takes place in Alaska, a pair of Jon Van Zyle wolf socks, and a 3D wolf bookmark. (I should have ordered one extra to keep - it's so gorgeous and cool!) These are lightweight so I'm going International on this one. Yay!
